I missed the last two life drawing workshops but I tried to make up for it by going to Croquis Cafe on YouTube to draw from their models. The poses are actually timed. There are 1 minute poses, 2 minute poses, and then a final 5 minute pose. It’s pretty close to actually being there.
However, I was able to go today and draw live at the Sunday workshop at our local university. It beats drawing from a computer monitor.
Below are a couple of 2 minute warm up poses drawn with sumi ink, brush, and wooden chopstick.
This is a 20 minute pose drawn with the aux deux crayon style.

In these types of drawing, whether it’s a three color chalk drawing, or aux deux crayons (two colors), I want to try to make use of the paper color more.

A very interesting face but a lot of work to do on the hair and facial hair to get it right. He would be a very good model to draw for at least an hour.

It was a nice, full workshop today. Good to see some familiar faces again. The model’s poses were interesting but may have been difficult at times.
My favorite works for today were probably my 2 minute warm-up ink sketches.

After working on my oil paintings all day yesterday I just felt the need to do some life drawing. Today felt like a great day for drawing. I did the three color chalk style drawings and felt comfortable doing it.

Very good model today. Did a couple portrait drawings and I thought the profile drawing came out the best.

Great model today. Workshop was very crowded, maybe with the addition of some college art students. Overall, it was a good day for drawing.

I like drawing models with a full head of hair, or at least some hair because I think it plays a big part in the appearance of the person. So when I saw who our model was today I was a little disappointed. But I’ve drawn him before and I believe I did a pretty good job depicting him then, and I think I did a good job today, too. It always surprises me what I can get out of him.
This was a 20-minute charcoal drawing.
